Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg

In January 2017, the Elbphilharmonie (or Elbe Philharmonic Hall) was officially opened after about ten years of construction work. Its unique glass facade, which plays on visual associations with sails and ocean waves, has already established itself as a new landmark of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Inside the Elbphilharmonie’s main concert hall, specially-designed and individually-carved wall and ceiling elements provide incredibly precise sound diffusion and perfect acoustics.

The main hall has 2,100 seats in total, and each seat is individually supplied with fresh air. Condair DL hybrid humidifiers ensure comfort for visitors and optimal acoustic conditions for the orchestra.

Patented HygienePlus® method

Basically, air conditioners and humidification devices are not sterile areas. Even when humidifying water of drinking-water quality is used, this is never completely germ-free. Therefore, microbes can always settle and form hazardous biofilms in humidifiers and in damp areas of air conditioners. Suitable hygiene measures are therefore essential to hinder the growth and propagation of pathogens in adiabatic humidifiers. The germ diagram points out the rapid propagation of microorganisms when no appropriate steps are taken to contain them. The patented HygienePlus® method provides for healthy air and a lasting hygienic environment.

Energy-efficient low-pressure system

The low-pressure mode of operation translates to significant energy savings due to the lesser compression work. By combining the Condair DL humidifier and the reverse osmosis of the Condair AT2, even a pressure booster pump on the humidification system becomes superfluous!

Low-pressure systems generally get by with a significantly shallower design depth than high-pressure humidifiers. Due to the arrangement of the evaporator ceramics so that they cover the full area, and as a result of the spray cone of the molecular diffuser nozzles, the entire overall depth of the Condair DL can be reduced to up to 600 mm. Thanks to its compact design, the humidification chamber can also be shortened, achieving a significant saving in materials.
